July clean up in Merton

Despite a couple of fairly important sporting events on Sunday 9 July, we had a really good turn out of 23 people.  This was due in part to Caroline bringing along four very welcome friends on what was to be her last clean up – we wish her all the best with her volunteer work overseas.  Her friends didn’t appear to be too put off by their waterlogged waders and we hope to see them again soon.

The site of the clean up was the sequence of pools just below the old Connolly’s Mill.  The grapple was in much evidence as some heavy items needed to be retrieved.

Martin was determined not to be beaten by this wheelbarrow!

Clean up

Erica was the Event Controller and Gideon the Health & Safety Officer and they dispatched their tasks with great authority.  Some of us rushed home to see Federrer win his fourth Wimbledon title in some style whilst others adjourned to the William Morris for a swift half or two.

Thanks to: Alan Mc, Andy W, Caroline, Daniel, Diana, Erica, Gideon, Gill, Gwen, Hugh, Jane, Mark, Martin, Matt, Mike, Nick, Peter M, Rigby, Rob, Sally, Theo, Trudi and Victoria
